Pittsburgh
Penguins: Johnny’s favorite team. After four years out of the playoffs, Mario
is gone, and the new savior is teen sensation Sidney Crosby, who topped
100 points in his rookie year. He and Russian sniper Evegeni Malkin give the Pens the best one-two punch since the prime
years of Jagr & Lemieux, but they could not get the team past the
first round in the 2007 playoffs.
|
 |
Anaheim Ducks: Teemu Selanne's return
and quality goal-tending helped the Ducks get to the conference final in
2005-06. With the league's best defenseman, Chris Pronger, joining the
team, and the core of last year's squad back, the Ducks finally
brought a cup to California in 2007.
|
 |
Detroit
Redwings: Teris' team. Although they worked hard to make amends for recent early
playoff exits, the Ducks once again proved to be their downfall in the
conference finals.
|
 |
San Jose Sharks:
Dick's and Tim's favorite. Although some thought they were an even better hope for a California cup than the
Ducks, they could not get past the Redwings in 2007.
|
 |
Colorado
Avalanche: Mikie's favorite. Goaltending has been a continuing
question mark. The loss of Rob Blake, Alex Tanguay and Dan Hinote
created big holes and more questions, and the Avs missed the playoffs for
the first time ever in Colorado, despite stellar play in the last month.
Look for this proud team to make a comeback in 2007-08.

Fresno
Falcons: Our home team, formerly of the West Coast Hockey League, became part of the expanded
ECHL in 2002. In 2005-06 they held the
number one spot in their division from day 1, but could not repeat the
feat in 06-07. After two strong wins, they bowed out with four straight
losses to Bakersfield in the first round.
