We have little information on the Mayer family.
Even the names we have in the older generations are suspect; we have
received two conflicting sets of names from two researchers.
The Mayer family lived primarily in Waterville
and Whitehouse Ohio. The relationship of
the Mayer family is shown on our main
genealogy page, and in Dick Estel's
pedigree.
According to one researcher, John Martin Mayer I
(1794-1871) came to America from Germany in 1840, arriving in Boston 26
August. He went then to Maumee, OH, where he worked on the canal. In 1842
he purchased 160 acres in Section 10, Waterville Township.
I
have seen the old Mayer home in rural Whitehouse, although my father
stated it had been modified significantly from its appearance when
he was a child.
