I'm now offering selected photos
from my collection in slide show form. The slide show
should begin automatically when the window opens. If it does
not, refreshing the page usually resolves the problem. Click on the double
rectangle icon in the upper right for Full Screen. Press F11
to return to normal view.
Parkfield is a very tiny town in Monterey
County, on a road that runs from State Highway 41/46 to US
101. It's the home of the V6
ranch , which makes the town and ranch property available
for trail rides, weddings, and more. My own connection is a bluegrass
festival that's been held every year since 1999.
It's big claim to fame is as the Earthquake Capital of the
west, being located right on the San Andreas fault. The US
Geological Survey maintains a building full of measuring
equipment there. Parkfield is located in a beautiful valley centered
around cattle and hay ranching. Click here
to read more and see more photos, and here
to read about the quake of 2004.
